Visakhapatnam: Under Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation, Employment Generation Mission, Rural Development and MEPMA, the government has been providing training to unemployed youth in 250 fields based on their educational qualification and 75 per cent trainees got placed in several big companies, including TCS, WIPRO, More, Apollo, Medplus, CARE and Big Bazaar, said Collector Pravin Kumar.

Participating in the World Skills Day celebrations organised by the DRDA department at AS Raja College here on Saturday, Collector Pravin Kumar said instead of waiting for government jobs, youth should hone their skills and start working as self-employed.

For this, the government would also lend financial support by giving subsidy, he added. “The Central and State governments objective is to provide skill development training to youth in the fields of their interest and creating employment opportunities for them,” said Collector Pravin Kumar.

MLC PVN Madhav asked the students and youth to make use of several schemes like Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, National Skill Development Corporation and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana for getting employment opportunities.

DRDA PD Satyasai Srtinivas, Alwar Das Educational Institution Chairman A Ravindra, faculty members, students and others participated in the event.
