CM to inaugurate Kandaleru Lift Irrigation Scheme: Somireddy
Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the Kandaleru Lift Irrigation Scheme soon.
Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the Kandaleru Lift Irrigation Scheme soon.
Inspecting water flow at Kandaleru left irrigation canal at Mogalluru village in Podalakur mandal on Sunday, the Minister said that canal works have been completed with a cost of Rs 62 crore and explained that a trial run was also completed successfully.
“Six mandals will get water with the lift irrigation scheme. The left canal has about 20,700 acres of ayacut. Upland areas in the region will get water for irrigation from the left canal,” said the Agriculture Minister. Chejarla, Podalakur, Nellore rural, Sydapuram, Venktachalam and Manubolu areas will get drinking water through the left canal, he added.
Groundwater levels would get recharged after water is stored in surrounding 35 tanks through the left irrigation canal, said the minister. He also directed the irrigation officials to complete the unfinished works immediately.
The minister inaugurated a RO water plant arranged with his own funds. Chairman of District Central Library K Venkataswamy Naidu, SE of Irrigation department M V Ramana, Joint Director of Agriculture Hemamaheswar Rao and AD of Horticulture department Uma were present.
