Nellore: Even as Udayagiri legislator Bollineni Venkata Rama Rao refuted allegations against his role in the multi-crore scam in Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC), Nagpur ACB sleuths named the legislator and R Srinivasulu Reddy in the FIRs lodged with Sadar police some time ago under Sections 420, 120 (b) and 109 of IPC and 13 (1) (d) and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

In the case, nine VIDC officials and four contractors have been booked and the officials said the legislator was one amongst them who was involved in the tenders along with D Thakkar’s Firm.

The Maharashtra Government ordered for a probe and the ACB confirmed that the earnest money for Srinivasa Construction was actually sourced from the bank account of D Thakkar Company which provided fake experience certificates along with the documents.

In fact, the FIR also named Bollineni Venkata Rama Rao of Srinivasa Constructions and Rama Reddy Srinivasula Reddy of Balarami Reddy & Company as accused at Sadar Police Station, according to sources in Nagpur police. But, P R Patil, SP of ACB wing, Nagpur, denied revealing latest developments on the case saying it was being monitored by the top cops of the state. ACP of Sadar police station of Zone-2, Nagpur city, also refused to comment on developments of the case.

There was an allegation that the officials extended undue benefits to a contractor in Nerla (Paghora) and Pendhri case and company of the legislator which filed tenders along with another company where they had submitted fake experience certificates and involving in other irregularities.

Regarding the Nerla (Paghora) Lift Irrigation Scheme and Pendhri branch canal works, ACB had booked two then partners in contractor firms Srinivasa Construction and R Balarami Reddy and Company (Joint Venture) namely Bollineni Venkata Ramarao and Ramireddy Srinivasula Reddy.

But, interacting with media persons at NTR Bhavan in Nellore on Sunday evening, Udayagiri MLA Bollineni Venkata Ramarao said that ACB officials have not conducted any raids on their offices in Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh too.

‘Even the BJP government in Maharashtra has been making allegations against only ring process in tenders at that time and not on the quality of works taken up,’ said the MLA. He also said that he had resigned from Srinivasa Construction Company in 2012 before elections. He also said that he is ready to face any legal consequences.

Bollineni Rama Rao took a dig at YSRC leader Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy saying Mekapati brothers have been making unnecessary allegations against them and providing false information to the media.
