Anivara Asthanam marks the closure of previous year’s account and the commencement of new accounts

A set of new vastrams to be presented to presiding deity and other deities were carried over head by Ramanuja Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, the senior pontiff of Tirumala shrine, circumambulating Dwajasthambham inside Sri Vari Temple.

The processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy, Goddesses Sridevi and Bhudevi and Chief Commander of Lord Sri Vishwaksena were seated opposite Garudalwar Sannidhi and the Asthanam, temple court was performed.

As the Asthanam is held on the last day of Tamil month Ani, it is called as Anivara Asthanam. An inscription found on the stone wall of second prakara of Tirumala temple under dated 9-3-1494 confirms the importance of this annual accounting festival.

The Anivara Asthanam marks the closure of previous year’s account and the commencement of new accounts. On the occasion, the temple is re-entrusted to the Jeeyangars, as also the seals of office of administration to the executive and administrative heads of Devasthanams.

This festival also signifies the oath taking ceremony, at which the servants of the Lord are to affirm their loyalty and faithfulness to their duty in sacred service of Lord.

TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, JEO KS Sreenivasa Raju, CVSO A Ravikrishna, Temple Deputy Executive Officer Rama Rao, Peishkar Ramesh and others were also present.
