He delivered a lecture on ‘Science, Technology & Innovations in new India-Opportunities’ at SVU Senate Hall here on Monday.

He reviewed the present status of citations, patents, Research and Development (R&D) in the country. The contribution of private sector is more in other countries towards R&D where as in India the government’s contribution is 80 per cent. He also explained about Atal Incubation Centre and Atal Tinkering Lab programmes and asked students to participate as mentors. He stressed on the importance of innovative ideas and quoted a few.

There is a large scope for financial assistance under this programmes, he informed. SVU Vice-Chancellor Prof A Damodaram mentioned that the Vision 2020 of India can be realised by developing innovation infrastructure. He further said that India ranks third among the most attractive investment destinations for technology transactions in the world. He also expressed optimism of Andhra Pradesh recommitting itself for the growth of the nation.
