New Delhi: The Centre has clarified once again that the bifurcation of properties situated outside the erstwhile AP, have to be shared by both the States as per their population ratio.

In his reply to a question by YSRCP MP V Vijayasai Reddy in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, said that his Ministry had received a request from the Chief Secretary of the government of Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Secretary had sought Centre’s intervention for the apportionment of properties of Andhra Bhavan in New Delhi in accordance with the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. A meeting was held on January 12, 2017 at the behest of the Union Home Secretary with the Chief Secretaries of both the States.

The latter were informed that a clear provision existed in Section 48(1) of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 that in case of properties situated outside the existing State of Andhra Pradesh, such properties should be apportioned between the successor States on the basis of population ratio, which would be applicable for the apportionment of Andhra Bhavan.
