Speaking at a function held to release the two books brought out by Hyderabad Book Trust, containing the editorials and articles of Bojja Tarakam published in Nalupu magazine for which he worked as Editor.

Ashok Teja said Tarakam was an eternal source of inspiration for thinker like him and also those fighting for the rights of marginalised people.

As an advocate, writer and leader, he strived till his end to build a strong Dalit movement and Dalit literature, he said adding that Tarakam will be remembered as pro-poor and as a person, who stood for the sake of people irrespective of political affiliation, caste or creed.

Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) Vice-Chancellor A Damodaram said Tarakam contribution to awaken the oppressed and also for social justice, liberty and equality in the society is unparalleled. He stressed on translating the literary works of Tarakam into other languages to help the young generation to follow his footsteps.

Republican Party of India (RPI) state president P Anjaiah, who presided over the book releasing function, recalled his long association with Tarakam and also how he helped to him to fight on many issues of atrocities on Dalits in Chittoor district and also leading a movement districtwide awakening the down trodden.

SVU Rector M Bhaskar, Andhra Jyothi assistant editor RM Umamaheswar Rao, Progressive Writers Association (Arasam) state secretary S Nagaraj and others were also present.
