He also displayed the soil moisturiser equipment used to determine moisture levels in the crop to the media. Speaking on the occasion, Umamaheswara Rao said that every effort will be made to extend protective irrigation to the 7,500 acres identified in the district that badly needed rain gun services.

He requested farmers to share excess water with co-farmers. He promised to bring Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) water to Madakasira by year-end. He said that the recent rains had recharged bores and farm ponds and nearly 100 tmcft of water could be saved. In Rayalaseema districts, 20.16 tmcft of water could be conserved. Last year, he said that despite making efforts much extent of crop could not be saved.
