Kuppam (Chittoor): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said efforts are on to develop Gudupalli as knowledge hub for the benefit of young generation in the border Kuppam area to accelerate its growth.

After inaugurating the newly constructed junior college building and interacting with students and parents, Naidu said the government was making all efforts to develop Gudupalli as knowledge hub in the border Kuppam area. The Chief Minister said that he was working overtime for setting up more industries including labour intensive apparel park.

He said Kuppam will soon grow as a satellite township to Bengaluru and people there will come here for jobs. Reiterating that the government will deal belt shops with iron hand, he urged the women to complain to 1100 if they found any of them for immediate action.

The affection of Kuppam people and lack of development in the area moved him to opt the constituency, he said in an emotional tone and added that he is lifelong indebted to people of Kuppam for electing him without any break to the Assembly from here.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone for Rs 8.88 crore development works, including NTR Sujala Drinking Water Supply Scheme taken up with an outlay of Rs 1.60 crore covering 51 villages in Gudupalli mandal, Rs 1.68 crore NTR Housing Scheme for construction of 112 houses in Chandranna Colony and for the construction of mandal office complex estimated at Rs 55 lakh. He also presented merit certificates to SSC students,

who scored well in the school final examination. Later Naidu inspected Handri-Neeva branch canal works in Venkatapuram village and instructed the engineering official to erect shutters. Naidu said the project will make the district drought-free. Earlier, Naidu made unscheduled stop at the village after seeing a group of women offered him Harathi and spoke for a few minutes before proceeding to Sonarsanapalli where he took part in the Rachabanda.
