Vijayawada: All the eligible citizens of India should make use of their franchise to safeguard democracy of the nation, said Sub-Collector Dr Haresh at a programme on voter-enrollment awareness organised at KBN College on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Haresh said all the eligible citizens should cast their vote to build a strong democratic nation. He called upon all the eligible citizens to enrol their names in voters list. He said voter enrolment awareness programmes should be held to educate youth.

Certificate of appreciation would be given on Independence Day to the staff actively participated in the voter enrolment programmes, he added.

KBN College Principal Dr V Narayana Rao said more number of villagers and uneducated people were casting their vote in elections compared to educated and urban people.

He said youth should actively participate in the elections to safeguard democracy. VMC Deputy Commissioner (revenue) Subba Rao said many awareness programmes were being organised on voter-enrolment.

KBN College Academic Director J Panduranga Rao, NSS PO’s V Sheshagiri Rao, Dr M Sambasiva Rao, staff and students were present.
