Rampachodavaram: Adikavi Nannaya University Vice-Chancellor Prof Murru Mutyala Naidu on Thursday called upon tribal youth to create awareness among elders to avail advanced medication for malaria and typhoid in the Agency.

Inaugurating the awareness programme organised jointly by Nannaya University and Lenora Group of Educational Institutions at Lenora College in Rampachodavaram, the Vice-Chancellor said the youth should educate and motivate elderly to come out of superstitions.

He said the tribals are failed to make use of advanced medical facilities and government welfare schemes due to lack of education. He said an action plan has been drafted to create awareness among tribals with four NSS teams under the purview of Nannaya University in the Agency. He stressed the need for comprehensive changes in the tribals’ lives by appointing an adopted officer and an ITDA officer for every 10 NSS members.

ITDA Project Officer AS Dinesh Kumar lauded the steps taken by Nannaya University to bring change in health condition of tribals and added these kind of awareness programmes will help in creating healthy society. He called upon the tribals living in 635 habitats to shun superstitions by availing government schemes. He said that efforts would be made to create awareness among tribals through radio programmes.
