Visakhapatnam: As there a is lot of scope for tourism development in Vizag, tourism development works proposals should be prepared, said state Tourism Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena.

Tourism secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena convened a meeting with Collector Pravin Kumar, GVMC Commissioner Hari Narayanan, Joint Collector G Srujana, Tourism Director Himanshu Shukla, VUDA Vice-Chairman Basanth Kumar at tourism resorts in Rushikonda on Saturday.

Speaking to the officials, he said, cottages in Lambasingi should be made ready to cater to the needs of tourists for which the works must be taken up in a week. To completely revamp Rushikonda Beach, development plans and proposals for funds should be forwarded, he added. Other tourism development activities that should be taken up include setting up of shacks at Yarada Beach, he said.

VUDA Vice-Chairman Basanth Kumar disclosed that Heli-tourism will be launched in August. Later, the Collector urged the Tourism Secretary to sanction more funds besides releasing last year and this year’s allocated tourism funds for the district to undertake major tourism works.
