Atmakur (Kurnool): Many people in Dalit and Muslim colonies in Iskala village of Pamulapadu mandal of Kurnool district are reeling under the impact of viral fevers. In the absence of remedial medical support from the government, three RMPs have been exploiting the poor. Prevailing unhygienic conditions is stated to be the cause for the spread of viral fevers.

Kuruva Lingamma has been suffering from Malaria for the past 10 days and also Perikala Venkat Rao of the village. There are at least 50 viral fever cases in the village. The village ANM is not paying attention to the problem. Medical officer at the Pamulapadu PHC Nagalakshmi detected at least 70 cases among the outpatients visited the PHC on Monday.

Sarpanch Ranganna put the blame on medical officers for the spread of viral fevers, while the health activists blame it on village secretary for not maintaining sanitation. Medical officers describe it as nothing unusual and plan to conduct blood tests. The patients suffering from viral fevers seek District Collector’s intervention.
