YSRCP smells scam in Haj arrangements

Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party Minorities Cell chairman Nadeem Ahmed has accused the Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee of not showing seriousness in making arrangements for Haj Camp 2017.

In a media statement, Nadeem Ahmed said that as per the directions of Haj Committee of India, pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh need to leave for holy journey from Hyderabad Embarkation Point. He said that the Haj flights for pilgrims of Telangana and AP pilgrims are scheduled to begin from August 13. However, he said that the AP Haj Committee is yet to enter into an agreement with the Telangana Haj Committee for making arrangements for AP pilgrims at Haj House.

He said last year both the Haj Committees shared expenditure and AP pilgrims performed Haj without any major glitches. However, instead of sharing common facilities, this year APSHC is apparently booking hotels around Haj House to accommodate pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh. He said that there was a huge scam in booking private hotels and making separate arrangements.

Nadeem Ahmed said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was not interested in issues concerning Muslim community. Further, after the transfer of S.M. Iqbal, present Minorities Welfare Secretary Praveen Kumar was not showing any seriousness in making proper arrangements for Haj pilgrims. He demanded that the AP Government should sort out the issue with TSHC and ensure that AP pilgrims undertake their holy journey without facing any inconvenience.
