India’s premier public sector company Dredging Corporation of India Limited, which has been exploring foreign markets to expand its market base outside India, participated in the international tender for dredging in Pussur Channel, Bangladesh invited by Mongla Port Authority, Bangladesh during June 2016.

Visakhapatnam: India’s premier public sector company Dredging Corporation of India Limited, which has been exploring foreign markets to expand its market base outside India, participated in the international tender for dredging in Pussur Channel, Bangladesh invited by Mongla Port Authority, Bangladesh during June 2016.

DCI successfully bagged the project in a stiff competition against four international bidders. The project involves dredging of around 3.88 million cubic metres to be completed within 15 months at a cost of Rs 102 crore .

The contract agreement between DCI and Mongla Port Authority was signed by Rajesh Tripathi, CMD, Dredging Corporation of India, and AKM Faruque Hasan, Chairman, Mongla Port Authority at Mongla, Bangladesh, in the presence of deputy high commissioner and first secretary of Indian High Commission, government officials of Bangladesh and other stake holders.

This is the first international contract bagged by DCI through an open global tender. DCI has planned to commence the dredging work by September 2017 as per the project schedule.
