Nellore: Five people severely injured when a tourist bus from Sangam mandal in the district fell into a tank at Nagore in Tamil Nadu on Thursday. Ten others received minor injuries.

About 45 people from Talupuru village in the mandal planned to visit Nagore Nagapattinam Dargah in Tamil Nadu and booked Shaji travels service. They started on Wednesday at 2.30 pm and reached Pondicherry at 7 am. Again, when they started, the bus fell into a tank between Pondicherry and Nagore at 9.30 am.

The bus has one driver on duty since the vehicle started and he had no rest till the bus met with the accident, a witness said. The driver lost control on wheel due to drowsiness, upturned vehicle and took three leaps before landing in the tank.

SK Lia Mastan, Subhani, SK Mastanbi, N Jayamma and Ghouse Basha received severe injuries. As soon as the issue came to notice, Nellore Collector R Mutyala Raju enquired about the condition of passengers and asked Pondicherry Collector for necessary medical support to the victims and directed Naidupet RDO Seena Naik to rush to the spot for monitoring medical aid and bringing them back to village safely.

Local police shifted the injured to 5 hospitals in the area for necessary first aid to injured and better treatment for severely injured. Doctors said the condition of all passengers was stable.

The villagers of Talupuru were in shock that what had happened to their near and dear ones who habitually visit the Dagah every year.
