Vijayawada: District Collector B Lakshimikantham said that about 9.5 lakhs children aged between 9 months and 15 years will be administered Missiles-Rubella (MR) vaccine in the district which will start from August 1.

The Collector held a video-conference from the camp office on Thursday and ordered the health department officials, ICDS workers, panchayat raj department officers to work for MR vaccine campaign.

The Collector ordered to take out rallies at all villages, mandals and cities besides the health department will distribute pamphlets, flexies and wall posters to create awareness on MR vaccine.

The Collector said that MR vaccine should reach all PHC, community health centres and government hostels by Saturday and should be kept in cold chain refrigeration points, along with four pack vaccine ice carrier with uninterrupted power supply.

Parents should be educated on MR vaccine by forming human chains, slide shows in theatres, cable network, through drum beats and auto rickshaw announcements at all villages and mandals.

There are 475 schools and 3,812 Anganwadi centres in the district and all the teachers and staff should see that all the children are administered MR vaccine.

Health department officials, 884 ANM's, 3,354 ASHA workers, panchayat secretaries and other staff should collectively work from August 1, said the Collector.

DMHO Dr .TVSN Sastry, ICDS PD K Krishna Kumari, social welfare department joint director PSA Prasad, district panchayat officer Ananda Babu, RDO’s M Chakrapani, P Sai Babu and others were present.
