Vijayawada: The recent incident at Garagaparru village was a clear example of atrocities on Dalit community where the people of the village were expelled.

Dalit women and girl children who had undergone various kinds of atrocities in the society had expressed their horrific, tearful nightmare at a round table conference which was held at the Press Club on Friday.

The round table was organised by Dalit Sthree Sakthi (DSS) convener Gaddam Jhansi which was attended by members from social welfare department, judicial department, human rights department and Dalit organisations members as jury members.

About 25 cases from the recent past, in which victims who had undergone various kinds of atrocities from various parts of Andhra Pradesh were present. They expressed their sad saga, some were raped, betrayed in the name of love, attacked, expelled from the villages and a murder of a Dalit person too was brought to the notice of the jury.

The jury members were moved after listening to the horrific incidents narrated by the victims and said that there were many errors in implementing the law and many corrections have to be made to protect the Dalits from atrocities. Review on the amendment of law should be made apart from SC community leaders, politicians and commissioners sending a warning that the culprits would not be spared.

The jury members of the round table were Social Welfare Department Director Raghu Ram, Director of prosecution Rama Koteswara Rao, former judge Satyanarayana Reddy and National Human Rights Commission General Secretary Paul Divakar. Leaders from Dalit organisations too participated in the round table.
