The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is supporting the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation to maintain the city as a Clean Visakha under the Swachh Bharat campaign.
Visakhapatnam: The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is supporting the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation to maintain the city as a Clean Visakha under the Swachh Bharat campaign.
The HPCL is spending Rs 5 crore in the current fiscal and already Rs 2.5 crore worth of vehicles and other materials have been handed over to the GVMC.
As part of the programme, Director, Refineries, HPCL, Mumbai, Vinod S Shenoy handed over advanced compactor vehicles to GVMC Commissioner M Hari Narayanan, later the both officials flagged off the vehicles.
In another programme, to promote cleanliness and Swachh Visakha in the neighbouring villages of the refinery, the HPCL-Visakha Refinery organised a Swachh Bharat rally from Malkapuram to Yarada Park on Friday.
While flagging off the rally, Director-Refineries, HPCL Vinod S Shenoy explained the importance of cleanliness in surrounding areas and various initiatives taken by HPCL under Swachh Bharat Fortnight celebrations. Hundreds of students, employees and citizens took part in the rally.
Chief General Manager-Materials Department ASV Ramanan, General Manager (HR) Narisetty Rajarao, Union leaders, HPCL SC and ST Employees Welfare Association were present. The officials had distributed caps and T-Shirts to all the participants in the rally.
In another programme, under its CSR activities, Director, Refineries, HPCL laid foundation stone for the first floor of the Cerebral Palsy Clinic building at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama on the beach front.
The HPCL has sanctioned Rs 38 lakh for the building. On the occasion, the chief guest unveiled the plaque of the building and emphasised that HPCL has been working for the benefit of the needy and focusing on education and health in Visakhapatnam under CSR activities.
