Tirupati: In view of ensuing annual Brahmotsavams from September 23 to October 1 with Garuda Seva on September 27, a team of officials led by Tirumala JEO KS Srinivasa Raju along with Tirupati JEO P Bhaskar, Chief Vigilance and Security Officer (CVSO) A Ravikrishna and Tirupati Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty inspected the identified parking areas near Alipiri on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivasa Raju said that the pilgrims, especially those coming in private four wheelers, visiting Tirumala on Garuda Seva day is increasing year after year. To avoid traffic congestion in Tirumala, the TTD has identified few places near Alipiri for the parking of four-wheelers.

“Today, we have inspected the sprawling 38 acres of Devalok site belonging to AP Tourism,” the JEO said. In the AP tourism site, Srinivasa Raju said that 25 acres will be allotted for parking of four-wheelers. Similarly, the TTD will utilise the grounds of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) and SV Medical College (SVMC) as parking areas.

Special buses will be operated by APSRTC on Garuda Seva day from these parking places to Tirumala and vice versa. “After August 15, we will inspect these places again with concrete action plan.

Our mission is to provide hassle free facilities to multitude of pilgrims visiting for Brahmotsavams,” the JEO maintained. JEO Bhaskar said alternative parking places have been identified in Tirupati itself to reduce vehicular congestion in Tirumala.

In future, there is a dire need to reduce vehicular traffic in Tirumala due to space problem in hill town, he said and added that the TTD is contemplating to provide more facilities in the identified parking areas in Tirupati too.

Abhishek Mohanty stated that they took up the preliminary inspection. “We will do the required civil engineering works for these parking places to avoid any sort of problem to the pilgrims,” the Urban SP said.

Meanwhile, the TTD is contemplating to provide parking space to 3,000 two-wheelers at Bhudevi Complex and 1,300 at Srivari Mettu while parking facility for 800 four- wheelers at Devalok, 170 at BVB grounds, 100 at SVMC, 80 in Srivari Mettu on Garuda Seva day.
