Srikakulam: In a fillip to the tourism in Agency area, a tourism circuit has been proposed at Sitampeta Agency in Srikakulam district. The aim of the project is to improve Agency area, besides tapping in tourism potential.

In line with the plans Sitampeta Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA), project officer (PO), Lotheti Shivasankar five major works proposed in the Agency area with Rs 2 crore funds.

There are three water falls at Mettuguda, Donubai and Sunnapugedda in the Agency. Approach roads, cement benches and drinking water facility were proposed to give the region a facelift. Cabins were also proposed to provide temporary shelter to tourists.

Though a stair case was proposed at all the three water falls, forest officials objected stair case at Donubai water falls.
Apart from giving a facelift to water falls another two projects were proposed in the Agency, which include a Jala Vihar and museum at Sitampeta ITDA head quarters.

Works were initiated at Donubai water falls as tribal development funds are available with ITDA PO for which district collector’s nod is required and the formality has been fulfilled recently.

“Sitampeta Agency has good natural resources and topographical peculiarities. We can earn revenue by improving these places as tourist spots,” ITDA PO, Lotheti Shivasankar told The Hans India.

“Funds for all the proposed works have been sanctioned recently,” said District Tourism Promotion Officer (DTPO), N Narayana Rao.
