​Srikakulam: In a step towards finding out root cause for massive spread of kidney diseases in Uddanam area, a team of doctors from Harvard medical team toured the region on Saturday.

After interacting with the patients at Itchapuram in January this year Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan explained the situation to nephrologists of Harvard Medical college.

In line with the actor’s request, a team of expert doctors under the leadership of Joseph Bonventre decided to conduct a research on kidney diseases.

The team of doctors reached to Borivanka village in Kaviti mandal and interacted with 150 kidney patients gathered here with the help of local Jana Sena activists and Sompeta medical officer, Dr Pradhana Sivaji, who has been making efforts to find solution to the endemic since 1990s.

On the occasion Dr Joseph Bonventre, Dr Pabbisetti Venkat, Dr Dakshina Murthy and Dr Hari Prasad interacted with the kidney patients. They collected details of patients concerning to their family back ground, blood group, water, food habits, work culture etc.

Later, the doctors team visited all streets in the village and put some questions to locals to collect some information on the disease and left for Visakhapatnam.

The doctors will discuss the issue with Pawan Kalyan on July 31 to chalk out a plan to eradicated the disease.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Joseph Bonventre explained that they will continue research in association with government medical organisations in India till finding out the root cause.
