Highlights:

  • While nine of them belonged to the ruling TDP, 8 were from YSR Congress
  • Earlier, the Nellore Collector suspended 14 VROs for their involvement in the scam

It may be recalled that the district administration deployed 10 teams under the leadership of Joint Collector-2 V.Venkata Subba Reddy for unearthing the scam.

He reportedly recommended many VROs for suspension who were stated to be involved in the scam following revelations by the farmers at the Markfed procurement centre.

They also lodged complaints against role of politicos and benamis with the officials.Initially, the District Collector had suspended 14 village revenue officers and the Joint Collector-2 also found 13 politicos were responsible for the scam. Subsequently, senior officials of the Markfed also added names of 4 politicians who were popular personalities in Udayagiri constituency.

According to police sources, one among them was Ch Rajasekhar (Raja), Private Secretary of local MLA Bollineni Venkata Rama Rao of Telugu Desam and another was S Ravindra Babu, Mandal Parishad President of Duttaluru from TDP.

It was said there were 9 members from Telugu Desam party and 8 were also from YSR Congress party in the region. Four leaders were found to have played a key role in the scam, officials said.

A senior official from the Markfed said they had submitted a list of 4 persons who were having political background and submitted the list to the police.
