Minister promises to release funds for indoor stadium in Patamata

Minister for Youth Services and Sports Kollu Ravindra on Monday inspected the Chennupati Rama Kotaiah Municipal Corporation (CHRKMC) indoor stadium along with Mayor Koneru Sridhar and Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rama Mohana Rao at Patamata here on Monday.

Vijayawada: Minister for Youth Services and Sports Kollu Ravindra on Monday inspected the Chennupati Rama Kotaiah Municipal Corporation (CHRKMC) indoor stadium along with Mayor Koneru Sridhar and Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rama Mohana Rao at Patamata here on Monday.

The Minister inquired about the stadium and facilities and expressed his dissatisfaction over the poor facilities and maintenance of the stadium.

The indoor stadium wooden flooring was damaged and not useful to the players. Local players are suffering a lot and facing many problems due to lack of proper maintenance by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC). Vijayawada city is growing but at the same time the local authorities failed to provide facilities sports persons.

In this backdrop, sports associations and players took the problem to the notice of Minister. Inspecting the indoor stadium. Ravindra met players, who practice at indoor stadium and collected feedback over the facilities and requirements.

Later, Ravindra asked the Mayor about the development of indoor stadium. He said Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) would release funds for development of indoor stadium and VMC should take proper maintenance.

Ravindra directed the SAAP officers to prepare estimations for indoor stadium development. He sought the cooperation of VMC to provide funds and amenities for the sports players.

Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rama Mohana Rao explained the problems and requested the minister to release funds for indoor stadium development. SAAP Officer on Special Duty (OSD) P Rama Krishna and Corporator Chennupati Usha Rani participated.
