Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu instructed the officials to remove all the belt shops in the State.
While conducting a tele-conference with District Collectors and other officials from his Undavalli residence on Tuesday, he asked them to cancel the licences of liquor outlets which violate the rules. Similarly, he asked the officials to take severe action against illegal sand transport operators.
While taking the details on the number of belt shops removed and the cases registered during the last one month, the Chief Minister directed them to be vigilant on the activities of the liquor shops mainly in the rural areas.
Referring to the illegal transport of sand, he instructed the officials to increase the vigilance at the check-posts and to prevent the illegal transport of sand to neighbouring States.
He asked the officials to open new sand reaches which should be available to the common people.While suggesting to the district level committees to conduct review meetings on sand prices every month, he asked them to submit reports to mining secretary.
While expressing anguish over some vested interests spreading rumours that the government was planning to remove the employees by reducing their superannuation age limit, Naidu asked the government employees not to believe such rumors.
Meanwhile, the State government is planning to conduct a feasibility study for introducing Light Metro Rail (LMR) transport mode for Vijayawada. A German public transport expert Edward Dotson from KFW company submitted a report to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu suggesting that the light metro rail would be the best option for meeting the transport needs of the Vijayawada city.
The expert team headed by Edward Dotson, which conducted a study for two weeks on the necessity of the metro rail for Vijayawada and pros and cons, submitted the report to the Chief Minister at a meeting of a APCRDA officials held at the Secretariat on Tuesday. The experts team estimated the cost of the project at Rs 4,273 crore.
