Kadapa: The protest of students of Fathima Institute of Medical Sciences (FIMS) bore fruit as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called Union minister for health JP Nadda and sought his intervention in the issue.

The Chief Minister on Thursday, called the Union minister, who assured him to resolve the issue in favour of students. Sources disclosed that the Union ministry of health and family affairs would pressure FIMS management to pay back the fees to the students, as it was the management’s failure to maintain norms prescribed by the MCI that led to the issue.

It may be recalled that during 2015-2016 academic year about 100 students joined MBBS course. However, MCI denied permission to FIMS as it failed to meet the norms. In this connection, six months ago students along with parents met MCI chairman during his visit in new capital Amaravati, where the chairman revealed that FIMS management failed to maintain minimum infrastructure and there would be no question in issuing permission in future.
