Eluru: CPI National Council Secretary K Narayana demanded that the Centre should bring petrol and diesel under GST to benefit the consumers.

The CPI leader along with the party team visited Polavaram Project area on Thursday. The team watched the ongoing works of the project and interacted with the officials and the contracting agency. He exhorted the government to speed up the works of Polavaram project and pay proper compensation to the oustees of the project.

After the visit, the CPI leader addressing media at Jangareddigudem alleged that the BJP led NDA government has sanctioned Rs.13.5 lakh crore as subsidy to the corporates and industries. He said that as part of the World Bank conditions, the Centre has decided to cancel the subsidy on cooking gas cylinders.

He said that the CPI is opposing the cancellation of subsidy on the gas cylinders, which was a burden to the poor and middle-class people. He said that the BJP and TDP which came to power three years back failed to fulfil the election assurances to the people. He alleged that the BJP led NDA government has indulged in wholesale corruption.

He criticized that the TDP in Andhra Pradesh and TRS Government in Telangana have failed to curb the sand, land and drug mafia gangs in the two Telugu states. Moreover these gangs are attacking the poor people, he alleged. Referring to the comments of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on communists by stating the Communists are outdated,

the CPI leader said it is ridiculous and KCR has to recollect his memory that he came to communists before the elections for support.Narayana said that the CPI will support the agitation of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham. He questioned the TDP government for imposing restrictions on the Padayatra of Mudragada.
