The APCO is changing its age-old ideas and adopting new competitive strategies. It joined hands with National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFD) to venture into readymade garments territory. The NIFT is preparing 4,000 readymade garment designs exclusively for APCO.

The APCO is gearing up to open outlets abroad and started exercises to secure bulk orders from Indian Navy, Air Force, Army and railways.

The APCO will also make uniforms for various institutions like endowments, universities etc. In order to gain good share of business in the open market the APCO is making lavish arrangements to prepare attractive designs, fine finish, soothing colour combinations, high tearing strength, eye catchy, light weight and soft texture khadi readymade garments.

The state government has given clear directions to the APCO open more spacious and attractive showrooms in cities on par with commercial showrooms. Following the directives of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s directions the APCO decided open the showrooms with 60 percent handloom and 40 percent handicraft products to ensure good revenues.

“We have 72 clusters in the state and those clusters will be developed according to new strategies. Each cluster will be developed with Rs 2 crore and technical support also will be given to the workers. In order compete in the open market we are chalking out plans to reduce the price of the khadi products.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed to open counters in all metro cities in the country and also in few selected countries. Very soon APCO will hit the markets with a new brand image,” said vice-chairman and managing director Srinivas Sri Naresh.

“As a part of revamping plans, APCO state office will be set up in a spacious five storied building in Vijayawada. We are also planning to open a new spacious showroom in Vizag soon,” he added.
