Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari on Sunday demanded CBI probe into B Pharmacy student Ayesha Meera murder case. • Expresses displeasure over SIT being headed by Goutam Sawang, wants woman officer in his place
  • Criticises Vijayawada police commissioner over his statement that Satyam Babu will be questioned again

Reminding that High Court had acquitted Satyam Babu in the case, Rajaumari questioned as to why the commissioner was still considering him as the prime accused. Expressing displeasure over Gautam Sawang being appointed as the chief of Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the case, she said a woman police as head of the team would do a justice to the cause of the victim’s family.

Addressing the media at the state guest house here on Sunday, the Mahila Commission chief demanded that besides appointing a woman officer as chief of the SIT, some women also should be included in the team to bring out the facts about the persons who brutally murdered Ayesha Meera eight years ago.

While criticising the Vijayawada police commissioner for making “controversial statements” to the effect that Satyam Babu had a role in the case, Rajakumari also sought a detailed probe into the actions of police officers who misled the government and judiciary and implicated innocent Satyam babu in the sensational rape and murder case. She said Ayesha Meera’s parents were approaching the High Court on August 8 to seek a CBI probe.
