Parvathipuram (Vizianagaram): The state government decided to supply mosquito nets to the Agency areas for public distribution to protect them from filaria, malaria and dengue.

This year many people were affected with malaria and were treated in Parvathipuram area hospital and primary health centres in Kurupam, Komarada, GL Puram and Salur.

Ministers Kamineni Srinivas and RVSK Ranga Rao paid a visit to the rural areas in the district and took necessary steps to contain the fevers.

In this backdrop, the government has decided to distribute 3.8 lakh mosquito nets in the district.Earlier, the nets distributed by the government were manufactured in the country, but the durability and quality of those nets was not up to the mark. Hence, the government has decided to get imported nets, but they will here by October.

Generally, the spreading of those diseases is high between June and September as it is breeding season for mosquitoes.
But the government is getting those nets after completion of the epidemic season. District malaria officer Dr MMV Ravi Kumar said these nets would be distributed for the next epidemic season.
