Vijayawada: YSRCP MLA R K Roja on Monday said women have no protection in the State under the TDP rule. She said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has no right to greet women on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan as he failed to empower women and provide adequate protection to them in his three-year rule so far.

Addressing media conference at the district party office here on Monday, Roja said 25 girls committed suicide in Narayana colleges in the State but no case has been registered by the police against the culprits. She said girl students were beaten up in Vizag when they staged protest for hike in mess charges and many women were beaten black and blue and their clothes were torn when they opposed the setting up of food processing units in West Godavari district.

Roja said Anganwadi workers were severely thrashed by police for demanding wage hike and added that many women in Vijayawada city were forced into prostitution in the call money racket scam. She alleged that TDP leaders like Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and Bode Prasad shielded the culprits.

She alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is anti-women and appealed to the women to defeat the Telugu Desam Party in the next Assembly elections for the safety of women.

She called upon the women to pledge to fight against the TDP rule. Roja alleged that two Cabinet ministers were harassing women officials and wondered why Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu failed to take action against the two Ministers.
