Speaking to media persons at the Assembly premises in Velagapudi on Monday after the deliberations with the core committee under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary (transport and R&B) Sumita Dawra and the members of an advisory committee,

he said the committee which met three times earlier had prepared the draft copy of Amaravati Declaration, in which some changes had been made after discussing with various groups. Dr Rao recalled that the National Women’s Parliament which was held between February 10-12 this year at Pavitra Sangamam near Vijayawada had discussed elaborately about the problems and rights of the women.

Following the suggestions of Chief Minister, the Amaravati Declaration is being drafted which will be a guiding light for any government which aims for women empowerment, he said. The declaration will be very useful for the empowerment of women and it will address 10 issues, Dr Rao said.

The meeting had discussed the core 10 issues viz., women’s education, legal rights of women, women health-balanced diet, women in industrial sector, women in research-new innovations, women in politics, social security of women, women`s role in achieving stabilised development targets, social development of women, women-digital education.

Speaking on the occasion women and child welfare minister Paritala Sunita said that the women should strive hard for getting 50 percent reservations in the legislative bodies. She desired that women who are functioning as sarpanches and ZPTC members should work on their own and not depend on their husbands. Former minister Peethala Sujatha also spoke.

Assembly special secretary PPK Ramacharyulu, Principal Secretary Sumita Dawra, Women and Child welfare secretary K Sunita, School Education department commissioner Sandhya Rani, Endowment commissioner YV Anuradha, APSPDS director V Prathima, Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswavidyalayam registrar DM Mamatha, ANU Professor L Jayasri and other women members and students were present.
