A warm welcome was organised from the parade grounds with more than 15,000 students, who displayed a 1,500-meter-long national flag as a token of reverence to their beloved leader. Thousands thronged Police Parade Grounds and went on a rally to VR College Grounds, where Venkaiah did his schooling.

“I always remember my land, people, supporters, well-wishers and political rivalries, who differ with party affiliations but still they loved me, blessed me, and supported me. They taught me many issues and made me strong to climb the ladder of life. Even communists who theoretically oppose me, they loved me and joined hands for development of the area,” he said.
He recounted his association with top politicians, journalists and stalwarts of the district.

“Even after 69 years of independence, we are still battling poverty, illiteracy, economic inequalities and unequal welfare opportunities to the people. These issues must be addressed collectively. Modi government is giving assurance to people that the nation would lead the world,” Venkaiah claimed.

The Vice-President elect desired for a meaningful, useful, and practical debates in Houses aiming at relieving pain of the common man.

He assured that he would play such a concrete role as Chairman of Rajya Sabha for improving its dignity. He said that he had planned to quit politics in 2019 aiming to serve the people through voluntary services.

Ministers P Narayana, Kamineni Srinivas, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, ZP chairman B Raghavendra Reddy, MLC Beeda Ravichandra, MLAs K Sridhar Reddy, Pratap Reddy, playback singer SP Bala Subrahmanyam and others were present.
