Dharmavaram saris are globally known and the works of Hindupur weavers have a special place in the state. Next to farmers, weavers have a unique contribution to the society. Rayadurgam and Pamidi have large number of weavers and the Textile Parks reflect their works in the district.

The Collector said that awareness should be created on the schemes formulated for weavers both by the state and central governments for their welfare. The officials concerned should ensure that none are left out from the targeted welfare schemes.

The Collector said that handloom clothing adds to the dignity of a person. He directed the handloom officials to make it a point to display the workmanship of weavers in stalls whenever VVIP's visit the district. Pandian said that the government's saving scheme benefitted 2,298 weavers as loans were extended on the savings money of the weavers to an extent of Rs 2.67 crore. He added that weavers’ loans have been waived off to an extent of Rs 32 crore in the district benefitting 9,669 weavers.
