Amaravati: Australian Consul General Sean Kelly disclosed that industrialists from Australia were interested to invest in state in the fields like mines, road transport, education and others. The delegation included representatives from Queensland and Western Australia, including Sandra Diethelm headed by Sean Kelly met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Secretariat in Velgapudi on Tuesday.

Later, speaking to media persons the Consul General informed that the Australian government would establish a University or Centre for Excellence in Andhra Pradesh and an MoU on this regard would be signed very soon.

He also said that both AP and Australian government have been working on a Geological Survey Assistance System, that would enable high quality geological mapping of state for which a MoU to be signed by the two parties soon.

“We have discussed potential projects in a number of key areas of Australian expertise, including mining, road transport, education and other fields. We are investing a lot of resources in the potential of this new-born state. We are keen on finding more ways to collaborate with the AP government.

The Chief Minister’s attitude and development-oriented goals are great motivations for us to keep working on the AP-Australia ties,” he said. Sean Kelly said his government was already working on a project with state government on improving road traffic management.

He explained that the investment for this project would be minimum for the AP government, as the system would work on revenue sharing basis, from funds collected from violators.

“Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) is conducting survey on roads in AP with the support of World Bank. We will introduce the best systems of Australia in AP for improving the roads,” he maintained.

He also informed that the Australia would provide technology support for set up of ATMs in remote villages in the state.
