Tirupati: When every tribal is educated then only the community will prosper, said the Chairman of State SC, ST Commission Karem Sivaji. Participating in the International Tribal Day programme held at Mahati Auditorium here on Wednesday, he said that Ambedkar has drafted a Constitution which was aimed at the upliftment of the downtrodden. It is the duty of every tribal to be educated and fulfil the wishes of Ambedkar.

The central and state governments have been implementing several welfare schemes for development of tribals, he said and added that the Commission will create employment opportunities for tribals in tourism sector. He further said that the state government is going to implement a scheme in which the eligible tribals will get three acres of land worth Rs 15 lakh.

Tirupati MLA M Suguna said that the tribals living in the Scavengers Colony here will get houses in the multi-storey buildings before 2018 Pongal which will enhance their life standards. On the occasion of Independence Day to be held in Tirupati, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will distribute the documents of new houses to 100 tribals.

Earlier, the tribals has organised a rally from Railway Station to Mahati Auditorium with traditional tribal dances and musical instruments, which attracted the people.

Meanwhile, the District Collector PS Pradyumna has spent the International Tribal Day amidst the tribals. He visited Narasingapuram Yanadi Colony in Chandragiri mandal on Wednesday. He enquired about their activities and the
implementation of welfare schemes.
