Vijayawada: Silver medalist in 2016 Rio Olympics PV Sindhu on Wednesday assumed charge as the deputy collector in state government. She joined the duty in the office of Chief Commissioner of Land of Administration (CCLA) at Gollapudi village on the outskirts of Vijayawada city. She reported to special chief secretary Anil Chandra Punetha.

The staff of revenue department welcomed her at the office premises with bouquets. They also congratulated her for taking charge as one of the members of the staff. On this occasion, she expressed her joy to be part in the government. Later, she formally assumed her office by signing the roster in the presence of senior IAS officer M Jagannatham.

She assured that she would do justice to her job. She, however, said she would continue to play badminton as long as she could win medals for the country. “At present, I am undergoing training at Pullela Gopichand Academy for the upcoming events.

I will participate in all the national and international tournaments and I am confident of bringing more laurels to the country,” she said. Higher officials Punetha, Rama Rao, Jagantham congratulated her and expressed happy over joining of badminton star in their department.
