Guntur: Minister for water resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao claimed that Pattiseema water saved crops worth Rs.8000 crore during the last two years. He stated that it was because of the project the government released water to Krishna delta despite deficit rainfall.

He inaugurated new building constructed at a cost of Rs1.10 crore for deputy director of ground water department office in Guntur city on Wednesday. Speaking on this occasion, he said that the government was planning to supply Krishna water to NS Canal ayacut area of Guntur district by storing 6 tmc ft water at the upstream of Prakasam Barrage.

“We will take up lift irrigation schemes in Palnadu region,” he stated and assured that the government would supply Godavari water to Visakhapatnam this year. “The aim of the government is to supply irrigation water to all the agriculture lands,” he reiterated.

Devineni demanded the Election Commission to take stern action against the Leader of Opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy for making objectionable remarks against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
