Addressing the review meeting on randomisation of EVMs with representatives of various parties at the Collector’s Conference Hall on Thursday, the Collector said for the first time in Nandyal by-election, the VVPAT would be used in addition to the EVMs.
The voters could exercise franchise just by pressing the button of EVM and by mistake if the voter casted his vote to some other person then the voter can utilise his vote by filling Form-17. But if the casted vote proves to be correct one then the person is liable for action according to the norms laid down by the Election Commission, he said.
Second phase of awareness programme on EVMs randomisation would be held on August 12 at Nandyal, displaying the names of contestant candidates and their symbols, said Satyanarayana.
Joint Collector Prasanna Venkatesh said awareness will be conducted among the public about the voting process and a vehicle would be made available for public transportation under the limits of the Municipal Corporation.
“We will also infuse awareness on casting through EVMs set up at five model polling stations,” he stated. Election expenses observer Mugambikeyan, District Superintendent of Police Gopinath Jetti, District Revenue Officer Gangadhar Goud, representatives of YSRCP, TDP, CPM, BSP, Samajwadi parties attended the meeting.
