Vijayawada: State tourism department has prepared plans to construct a mega Shilparamam in Amaravati, along with Shilparamams in all the districts. The department officials revealed the plans at the inauguration of state Shilparamam office here on Thursday.
AP tourism and culture department secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena said that already six Shilparamam had been set up in the state and remaining Shilparamams would be constructed as early as possible. He said that the government would set up a craft village in Araku in the current financial year. The government was taking all necessary steps to develop the infrastructure in the tourism department, he added.
Tourism department managing director Himanshu Shukla said tourism would sector would benefit directly from Shilparamams. He said the tourism was government’s priority sector.
Special officer B Jayaraju has said the government shifted the state office of Shilparamams to Vijayawada to deliver services more effectively. As many as Rs 5 crore has been released for the maintenance of Shilparamams, he said. Several officials and staff of tourism department were also present.
