Visakhapatnam: Students staged a rasta roko in front of the VS Krishna Central Library outside the Andhra University campus in Visakhapatnam on Friday demanding the cancellation of recently conducted Group – II exam in the wake of alleged irregularities.
Nearly, 100 students raised slogans against the APPSC officials for not paying attention to their genuine concerns. Alleging that the paper has been leaked from one of the centres during the exam, the protesting students demanded that the APPSC chairman look into the matter and scrap the exam.
It may be noted that more than 200 students could not manage to write the Group II online test in the last month at GITAM University exam centre due to a technical snag. On the next day, APPSC Chariman Uday Bhaskar visited the test centre in Visakhapatnam and clarified that they have never come across such issues. The problem had occurred only at GITAM and at a college in Chirala and no action could be taken against the managements of both the institutions.
“From several years, we have been preparing for this exam to crack it. Now, all our dreams to obtain a government job were shattered only because of the laxity of APPSC officials and GITAM management.
The authorities are least bothered about our lives. Despite lodging complaints to the APPSC chairman, he is planning to release the results without resolving our issue,” said Anand, who was unable to write Group II exam.
