Srikakulam: Vamsadhara reservoir works resumed in Hira mandal on Friday after Joint Collector KVN Chakradhara Babu and Superintendent of Police CM Trivikrama Varma assured the displaced to resolve their problems while touring the affected villages.

Tension was prevailing for the past five days in all the 13 displaced villages in Hira mandal in the wake of demands from the displaced and deployment of police. Finally, on Thursday about 45 people were arrested by police and they were shifted to different police stations across the district.

Later, all the people were released without registering any cases. The Joint Collector and the Superintendent of Police toured Garlapadu, Tulagam and other villages in Hira mandal on Friday and discussed about pending issues regarding R&R package with villagers.

In the evening, works resumed and the displaced people also pacified with assurances of officials. “‘We promised the displaced people on clearing payments of R&R package and solve other related issues within 48 hours after we receive pleas from them”, said Joint Collector KVN Chakradhara Babu.
