YSRC-TDP showdown leaves Nandyal tense
Tension prevailed in this town on Friday following a showdown between TDP and YSRCP supporters engaged in the electioneering. The police had to use mild force to disperse the boisterous rival groups staging demonstrations at a local police station.

The trouble broke out when YSRCP workers accused the TDP of intimidating voters in a ward and resorted to a protest at the police station. According to Budda Sesha Reddy, constituency in-charge of the YSRCP, TDP leaders were found threatening voters with suspending their pensions and SHG women to withdraw financial assistance if they would not vote for the TDP candidate in the election.
When the YSRCP functionaries tried to catch them, the TDP workers fled and took shelter in the police station, Sesha Reddy alleged. The protesters expressed strong resentment against the alleged inaction by the official machinery in checking the alleged misuse of power by the TDP leaders.
When the YSRCP workers were staging a demonstration at the police station, the situation turned volatile when Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishnamurthy and his brother KE Prabhakar Rao came to the police station with a contingency of followers.
