Gynaecologist of a government hospital allegedly misbehaved with a pregnant woman, who visited for regular check-up at Podalakur Community Health Centre (CHC) here on Friday. The victim lodged a complaint against the gynaecologist with the police station on Saturday.

According to police, a pregnant woman from local Tailors’ Colony had visited the CHC a couple of days ago. Gynaecologist Dr Tagore, who is working in the CHC, suggested scanning to the woman and asked to visit on Friday. When she visited the medical facility for scanning on Friday, Tagore allegedly misbehaved with her. The victim had informed the matter to her relatives, who lodged a complaint against the gynaecologist with Podalakur police.
A case has been registered and the investigation is on, said Podalakur Sub-Inspector Jagath Singh. Tagore has been working in the CHC for the last one-and-a-half year and was also facing several allegations. ‘After completing regular check-ups for out-patients in the CHC, I asked three women to visit hospital for scanning.
After scanning was completed to a patient, Sailaja, I invited the victim for scanning. I had done only regular check-up to the patient and not misbehaved with her,’ said Tagore. The medical official is now under police custody.
