Law student held for blackmail
The city police on Saturday arrested and registered a case against a student of private Law College for allegedly blackmailing his classmate using her morphed images after she turned down his marriage proposal.
Visakhapatnam: The city police on Saturday arrested and registered a case against a student of private Law College for allegedly blackmailing his classmate using her morphed images after she turned down his marriage proposal.
MVP Police Station police, who registered the case and investigating it, identified the accused as Vijay Babu, a first-year student of Bachelor of Law of a private college in the city. The girl is also studying in the same college. Circle Inspector of MVP Colony Police Station Malla Mahesh Kumar said Vijay Babu and the girl were said to be lovers in the past, but due to some reasons their relations ended abruptly.
Vijay Babu continued to pester her for marriage even after the relations were broken up. He has been harassing the girl over phone. Perturbed over a series of calls, the girl lodged a complaint against Vijay Babu citing that he has been blackmailing her into marrying him using her morphed images.
A case has been registered against Vijay Babu under section 354 (D) of the IPC and 66 (C) of the IT Act and investigation is on. The police said though the girl had lodged the complaint, she did not produce the evidence, her morphed images.
