Tadipatri (Anantapur): Having taken Tadipatri municipality to national fame on hygiene, sanitation and greenery front, a determined MLA J C Prabhakar Reddy has now applied his mind on constituency development with special focus on village infrastructure development and strengthening of panchayats with mandal as a unit.

Highlights:

  • Shopping complexes, marriage halls are being built in 4 mandal headquarters for generating monthly income
  • Income generated would be used for taking up development and repair works
  • Prabhakar Reddy says his major aim is to provide water to 223 panchayats in Tadipatri segment

Yadiki, Peddapappuru, Tadipatri and Peddavaduguru are the four mandals in Tadipatri constituency. In all the four mandals, shopping complexes are being built in mandal headquarters to generate income for the Mandal Praja Parishads (MPPs) so that they need not depend upon the government for every small thing like replacing a burnt-out street light or repairing a motor which develops repair at the water pumping stations etc.

A marriage function hall, a water plant and a shopping complex are the income generating ones for every mandal. In every mandal headquarter, a shopping complex is being built. It will have 10 shops which generate an income of Rs 20,000 per month.

Rs 80 lakh is given by the MLA for the construction of 10 shops at Rs 8 lakh each. Water purification plants are also being set up in all four mandals. These water plants also generate Rs 25,000 a month. Each mandal will have nearly Rs 50,000 a month income generation. These funds would help to attend to urgent works without waiting for release of Panchayat Raj department funds.

MLA Prabhakar Reddy defines Gram Swaraj as every village should have basic requirements such as protected drinking water, road connectivity, public transport, street lighting and pucca housing. His topmost priority, Prabhakar says is providing water supply for 24 hours. He is presently on the job of laying pipelines and ensuring water supply to all the 223 panchayats in his constituency. This he said will be his major achievement as an MLA. People in villages do not have big desires.

It is the basic amenities for which people ask for in any village, he adds. An underground drainage has been undertaken on a pilot basis in Peddapappuru mandal at a cost of Rs 6 crore. This development could only be achieved by involvement and motivation of the people. Dead body freezers have been donated by the NGO dubbed as ‘Sparsha’ to all the four mandals. They are supplied free of cost to people in villages.

Prabhakar says that his passion is to serve people and not merely to climb higher than the MLA ladder. He adds that he has no inhibitions to once again serve as a ward councillor and always to be connected with people. Prabhakar has also prepared village development plans for 223 panchayats in his constituency after conducting a detailed survey of all panchayats projecting the wholistic needs of the village. Prabhakar has development plans for every village panchayat on his fingertips.

Housing is being given on a saturation mode in every village. The 65-year-old MLA has just completed his PG in political science and is planning to do his PhD on civic bodies development and clean and green towns which are crucial for achieving 'Swachh Bharath'.
