Fake certificates: 1 more held

Adoni: In the sensational fake educational certificates racket, computer operator Anjaneyulu, an aide of kingpin N Srinivasulu, was arrested at the new bus stand here on Saturday night and a CPU and blank fake certificates were seized from him.

It may be recalled that following a complaint lodged with the Koutalam police on August 3 about the fake certificate racket, the police swung into action and nabbed the kingpin N Srinivasulu and 22 others at the municipal grounds in the town on August 6.

Fake rubber stamps and certificates were recovered from them. However, the computer operator was on the run since then. Adoni CI Daiva Prasad and Koutalam Sub-Inspector Subrahmanya Reddy arrested the accused and presented the computer operator before DSP Kolli Srinivasa Rao.

According to the DSP, the racket kingpin operated from a lodge in Kurnool for the past eight years and appointed over 20 commission agents in the district to trap the unemployed, education dropouts, failed students, illiterate women and drivers and collected anything between Rs 1,000 and Rs 20,000 depending on the qualification required.

The kingpin and his computer operator assistant possessed rubber stamps of various educational institutions, fake study certificates, marks memos of various universities, TCs of various schools and fake signatures of various authorities. The duo used to prepare the fake certificates with the help of these and cheated the gullible public.

The DSP called upon the people to be wary of such nefarious elements. He appreciated the Adoni Circle Inspector and Koutalam Sub-inspector for successfully cracking the case.
