Guntur: The Guntur Municipal Corporation decided to develop the Gandhi Park, which is in the heart of the city, with the financial assistance of donors and corporate companies at a cost of Rs 3-crore.

The park, which is spread over six acres in the heart of the city, attracts four to five hundred visitors every day. The park would attract more visitors if it would be developed, according to sources.

Water fountain in the park is in a dilapidated condition, while garbage piled up in the park due to negligence of the workers and officials.

Responding to the request of the Guntur Municipal Corporation, some corporate companies are expressed their willingness to develop the park under the Corporate Social Responsibility scheme.

The corporation asked the companies to submit the concept plans for the development. As per the instructions of the corporation, the companies are preparing the concept plans and would submit it to the corporation authorities concerned.

The officials of the corporation will scrutiny the proposals and submit to the District Collector and GMC Special Officer Kona Sasidhar. Later, he will take a decision.
