Tirupati: A few ralty firms in Temple city are cheating the purchasers by constructing apartments violating all established norms. Especially new flats coming up on the outskirts are lacking drainage system, fire safety and other amenities. Many apartments are dotting in between Karakambadi-Tirupati highway and on Tiruchanur road, Renigunta road and in between Chandragiri-Tirupati highway.

As per the civic body planning norms, construction company should build the drainage system. Despite collecting special amount to the tune of Rs 1 to 2 lakh from each flat owner at the time of purchase for constructing drainage system, the firms fail to provide such amenities as per sale deed.

For instance, 162 flats in the apartment complex Brindavanam located near Thimmi Naidu Palem is not having seepage source for drainage system. Due to lack of this facility, drainage water has stagnated in the adjacent vacant land for the last two years. The apartment construction company assured the flat owners, at the time of purchase, that they would provide drainage connectivity to civic body main drain. After selling the flats, the firm completely failed to honour its assurance.

Due to lack of drainage system, the drainage water is sinking into the borewells besides contaminating drinking water pipelines. Speaking to The Hans India, Brindavanam Apartment Owners Association President V Balaji told “Our apartment construction company Sri Krishna Infra, at that time of flat purchase assured us that they are going to provide all amenities including drainage system and collected Rs 3.7 crore for this from all the flats buyers. However, they cheated us.

Since last two years, we are facing this drainage stagnation, nauseating smell and mosquitoes’ problems.” Responding on the problems, a senior official of the MCT city planning department said, “It is not only a mistake of construction company and buyers too. At the time of flat purchase, they should cross check all permissions. It is responsibility and duty of a flat buyer. If any apartment owner brings the irregularities to our notice, surely we will take action against such construction companies.”
