TG wants spl corpn for Arya Vysyas

Kurnool: Rajya Sabha member T G Venkatesh on Sunday demanded the expeditious setting up of a special corporation for the Arya Vysya community, as has been done for the benefit of the Valmikis, Brahmins and Shalivahanas.

The MP raised the demand after holding discussions with leaders of the State Arya Vysya Maha Sabha in a city hotel. While releasing the resolutions adopted at the Sabha, he told presspersons that pressure was being exerted on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to expedite the process of establishing the Corporation.

Venkatesh stated that the issue was discussed with Naidu one year back. He recalled that the CM had promptly responded to finalise the ways and means of establishing it after holding discussions with other stakeholders.

The MP said a proposal to include the Reddy and other OC communities in the proposed corporation was delaying it. He urged the government not to include other communities. Venkatesh pointed out that if loans at low rates of interest were given to Arya Vysyas, like the self-help groups, organisations like private banks could be developed. Loans at four per interest could be sanctioned to the Arya Vysyas unlike the case of the Brahmana Sangham, which was getting interest-free credit.

The MP said funds for the proposed corporation could be mobilised with the help of wealthy Arya Vysyas for the benefit of the poor people in the community. He stated that the announcement of the corporation has gained importance in the context of the Nandyal by-election.

If votes of the Arya Vysya community were to be secured the announcement on setting up the corporation was paramount. This would be taken to the notice of Naidu so as to prepare the action plan to make the announcement. If the CM makes the announcement the Arya Vysyas would support the TDP in all future elections.

Arya Vysya Maha Sabha president Jayanti Venkateswarlu said during the previous meetings there was opposition to Naidu under stress by some speakers. He clarified that the community was not opposed to the TDP chief. If the process of setting up of the corporation was completed with ease all Arya Vysyas would support Naidu.Among those who attended the Maha Sabha were its representatives K Seshagiri Setty and K Chandrasekhar.
